Safe Management Measures at the Workplace

As part of a calibrated reopening, Singapore will move back to Phase 3 (Heightened Alert) from Monday, 14 June. It remains essential that we continue to keep transmission risk in check by limiting interactions in common spaces such as the workplace.

Work-from-home will remain the default
Only employees who are unable to work-from-home are permitted to continue working on-site
Social gatherings at the workplace are not allowed & meal breaks should be taken individually

We urge everyone to comply with Safe Management Measures in order to keep Singapore safe from COVID-19.

Migrant Domestic Workers (MDWs) Strongly Encouraged to Stay Home on Rest Days

MDWs who need to go out for essential errands, should keep it short and avoid crowded places.
No intermingling between groups, and no sharing of food, drinks or utensils
Employers can help MDWs understand the importance of stricter SMMs during this period
If MDWs decide to stay home on their rest day, employers should not assign work to them
If MDWs forgo their rest day, employers must provide compensation in lieu of the rest day

MOM officers have also stepped up enforcement efforts at places popular with MDWs. We seek the understanding and cooperation of MDWs and their employers. These measures help protect MDWs, their employers’ families and our community.

Workcare Pilot Study Report and Workcare Grant Launch

The Workcare pilot study highlights the role that our society can play to recognise the work of outsourced essential services workers, and show care for their rest needs:

Providing secure lockers for workers to store their personal belongings safely
Allowing workers to customise their rest areas to instil a sense of belonging
Showcasing the work and efforts of workers to build a connection between them and residents/tenants
Creating opportunities for residents/tenants to appreciate the contribution of workers

Progressive building owners, service buyers, and service providers can also tap on the Workcare Grant to provide new rest areas or enhance existing ones for their outsourced essential services workers. Eligible recipients can get funding support of up to 80% of qualifying expenses, subject to a cap.

Clarification on inaccurate post on messaging apps on work pass holders not allowed into Singapore from 11 May

Here are the facts:

Singapore is not closing borders to work pass holders and dependants, but reducing entries from higher risk countries. Some workers who had earlier obtained entry approvals will be rescheduled.

Workers needed for key strategic and infrastructural works will still be allowed entry.

Workers from lower risk countries/regions, or entering via the Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA), Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and other approved travel lanes will not be affected.

To reschedule those affected, we are not accepting new entry applications from higher risk countries/regions for the time being.
