2021-04-22 14:48:20 Adverse Yaw is also know as Reverse Aileron.
It is the tendency of the aircraft to roll on to the opposite side required.
It affects aircraft control and is mainly due to:-

1. Induced drag.
2. Lift vector deflection.
3. Profile drag.

However, it can be overcome or minimized in the following ways/wing construction:

1. Frise ailerons. The upgoing Aileron protrudes downwards to destroy airflow increasing drag thus correcting the adverse effect.

2. Combination of Aileron/Rudder usage such as the helicopters correlator.

3. Differential aileron. The upgoing aileron deflects more upwards than downgoing aileron, increasing drag.

4. Roll spoilers in larger aircrafts.

5. Use of rudder to roll. At high speeds, the outbound ailerons are aerodynamically dead and therefore the rudder can be used to create differential lift on the wings.

6. Washout Planform of the wing. The angle of incidence decreases from the wing root to wing tip. Here, the downgoing wing creates more lift than upgoing wing.

7. Slot cum slat. Slat moves forward to allow high energy to push the separation point further back towards the leading edge.

8. Upfloat. This was used in older aircrafts before the development of differential aileron. The upgoing aileron aerodynamically moves further upwards.

2021-03-29 20:37:18 We have created a temporary discussion group: https://t.me/joinchat/fmK2NZkGlZVhNzVk for a chance to highlight your opinions about spaceflight.

Spaceflight has been a major feat accomplished by man in the recent times, mainly influenced by great input of innovators, engineers, law makers and the public interest in general. It has been used in space exploration, satellite telecommunications and commercial activities such as space tourism. In order for a successful launch, a careful planning is involved, from the supporting staff to the astronauts.
However, a spaceport site location is a critical part of the planning. The location influences the viability and frequency of a launch. It is therefore imperative to conduct a feasibility study of the location before establishing the spaceport.
As engineers, innovators and enthusiasts, state ONE factor to consider and explain why.
