China, Japan and South Korea were all wrong. You can find all three languages on the picture, but that doesn’t mean it should be in one of these three countries. Rather something more multicultural.

The United States was the correct answer. The picture was taken in Guam, an island in the Pacific Ocean, situated much closer to East Asia than North America. Guam is not a state but an unincorporated territory of the United States, just like Puerto Rico, the home island of Despacito. We’re living in a fat world. Obesity (=being extremely fat) has become a bigger problem – literally – than the opposite problem of malnutrition (=not having enough to eat). Rich countries used to have more obese people but nowadays the developing world (=developing countries) is catching up (=reaching the same point), making obesity a global issue.

Monday is for discussions and debates! Today we will have a discussion on Afandi English Chat (@afandi_english_chat).

The discussion questions are:
Do you know any obese people? What can you tell us about them?
Are there many obese people in your country? What makes them obese?
