West is West (2010) Today’s movie is the second
sequel (=book or film that continues the story of an earlier book or film) of the British
tragicomedy (=a mixture of tragedy and comedy) “East is East”, posted on Afandi English last month. It’s about a half-Pakistani family in 1970s Manchester, now on a very culture-shocky but educational visit to Pakistan.

Ron is a middle-aged businessman from the UK. He used to work for a trading firm but has recently
emigrated (=moved to another country) from his rainy native town of Bristol to sunny Cape Town in South Africa.
Inspired (=given a new idea) by the country’s
vineyards (=grape farm) he decides to set up a wine trading business, hoping to export local wines to the rest of the world. Unfortunately he finds it difficult to deal with
