Classification of Plant Diseases: Based on occurrence.
1. Endemic disease: A disease which regularly occurs in moderate to severe form on a particular area or country classified as endemic to that area.
The word "endemic" means prevalent in, and confined to a particular country, district, or location. E.g. Early blight of potato.
2. Epidemic disease: A widespread & severe outbreak of a disease but periodically.
It assumes severe form only on occasions. Examples: Red rot of sugarcane, Late blight of potato, Wheat rusts.
3. Sporadic disease: Occur at very irregular intervals in time and locations e.g. Green ear disease of bajra
4. Pandemic disease: Epidemic (widespread & severe outbreak) over a wide geographical area and affecting large proportion of a population. When a disease prevalent throughout an entire country, continent or the whole world is known as pandemic disease
