External Feeders
The larvae and adults feed on the grains from outside.
1. The Rice Moth - Corcyra cephalonica
The adult moth is greyish brown. The caterpillars web together the grains and feed within. It attacks broken grains and flour especially the milled products.
2. The Indian Meal Moth - Plodia interpunctella
The moth has brown fore wings with a white band. It lays about 300 eggs in clusters and the life cycle is completed in about 5-6 weeks.
3. Fig Moth - Cadra cautella
The small moth has greyish fore-wings. The caterpillars web together with the grains and feed on them.
4. The Khapra Beetle - Trogoderma granarium
The reddish brown beetle. The yellowish brown grubs clothed with long hairs. It attacks stored wheat.
