2021-08-13 17:44:26 They want to be able to stand up and say to the Muslim world: "We have shown you how to do it. We fought America, the world superpower, for 20 years until we forced the Americans, tails between their legs, to get out of our land, and then put their puppets up against a wall."

While our strategic defeat will leave Americans reluctant to attempt any such future imperial interventions, there needs to be an accounting.

The questions that need answering:

Was not the attempt to transplant Madisonian democracy into the soil of the Middle and Near East a fool's errand from the beginning?

How many other U.S. allies field paper armies, which will collapse, if they do not have the Americans there to do the heavy lifting?

Is what we have on offer—one man-one vote democracy—truly appealing in a part of the world where democracy seems to have trouble, from the Maghreb to the Middle East to Central Asia, putting down any deep roots?

The Taliban's God is Allah. The golden calf we had on offer was democracy. In the Hindu Kush, their god has proven stronger.

Such a retreat had been so great that in less than a week 2/3 of the country now finds itself in the hands of its archrival, the Taliban, or, as it formally calls itself, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), which advances towards the Capital, victorious and triumphant, as the US Govt & its NATO allies rush to evacuate its citizens & assets from Kabul as fast as possible, emulating the Saigon tragedy that once happened after the Betrayal by the US side towards the South Vietnamese Government.

In the end, decades of battle and generations of families both lost along with billions, if not trillions, of dollars spent to equip and arm the Afghan Government for nothing, but avoid a fate now seen.

2021-08-13 17:29:26 Halálának 77. évfordulóján főhajtással és mécses gyújtással emlékeztek meg Vitéz nemes Molnár László hadnagyról a Légió Hungária Győr-Moson-Sopron megyei divíziójának néhány tagjai.

Vitéz nemes Molnár László 1921. május 1-én született Nagykőrösön. Három éves volt, amikor a család Sopronba költözött.
1939-1942-ig volt a kassai Horthy Miklós Repülő Akadémia növendéke. 1942. június 18-án tette le az esküjét a frissen avatott hadnagy. A keleti frontra kerülésének pontos időpontja nem ismert. A tűzkeresztségen 1943. augusztus 16-án esik át, majd itt is szerzi meg élete első légigyőzelmét. 1944 elején már a szovjet front legeredményesebb magyar vadászpilótája. 1944. február 25-én tüntették ki a II. Osztályú Vaskereszttel.
A Vas megyei Káld felett az amerikaiakkal vívott légicsata közben találatot kapott, majd a zuhanó gépet elhagyva ejtőernyőjével ereszkedett alá, amikor is az amerikai vadászok roppant gyáva módon géppuskával lőni kezdték.
A Magyar Királyi Légierő egyik legnagyobb ásza mindössze 23 éves volt. 132 légi bevetésen 25 győzelmet ért el.
