I often get asked how to keep the target word bold when generating furigana on targeted sentence cards. Until today, the answer was "you can't". Today I'm happy to release AJT Furigana for Anki 2.1.

The purpose of this add-on is to automatically generate and bulk-generate furigana readings. TSC formatting is preserved.

Features:

・Furigana. After you type in a word or phrase into the SentKanji or VocabKanji fields and hit Tab, Anki will automatically generate furigana for you and place it in SentFurigana and VocabFurigana fields respectfully. Field names can be configured in settings.
・Furigana on flush. Automatic furigana generation when a new note gets created with Yomichan.
・Furigana from selection. You can convert any selected text to furigana by clicking Furigana for selection in the context menu while using the note editor.
・Toolbar button. You can replace the content of any selected field with furigana by pressing 振 on the toolbar.
・Note type. A new built-in note type designed for studying Japanese sentences. You can find it by going to Tools > Manage Note Types > Add > Japanese sentences.
・Compound words properly split. Words like 取って置き or 言い方 produce correct furigana, unlike the Japanese support add-on.

2021-08-18 10:20:47 Do Japanese people use Matrix? The answer is yes, though I must admit that Matrix is not as popular in Japan as Telegram. Because I've been using Matrix for quite a while, I've met many Japanese people and have found several servers run by Japanese people.

2021-08-14 01:37:56 AJT Pitch Accent updates

New features in this release:

・Furigana-aware lookups. If the add-on detects furigana reading in the source field, it will add pitch accents for the reading and skip other readings.
・Added kanjium data to the pitch accent database. The add-on uses NHK pitch accent data to generate pitch accents and searches kanjium data if nothing found.
・Settings dialog. No need to edit config.json to configure the add-on anymore. You can access the settings by going to AJT > Pitch Accent Options...

The JaPitch add-on for Anki 2.1 has been remastered, and received a new name: AJT Pitch Accent!

In this update, the codebase was significantly improved.

Below are the main changes:

・Added kana lookups. If a lookup fails, the add-on tries to use the kana reading of a word to find its pitch accent graph.
・Fixed a bug that prevented pitch accent lookups unless the first field of a note is focused.
・Added a context menu item to look up pitch accents of a selection. Select the expression you want to look up, then right-click and choose "NHK pitch accent lookup".
・Added a button that allows you to copy the result of a manual lookup as HTML.

For a while I've been thinking about adding a menu with a list of paragraphs on each page of the site. It took me a while to figure out how to do it without having to rewrite the whole site, but this is what I've come up with:

Now the site has an overlay-like sidebar. You can toggle it by pressing the ・・・ button on the top. Once enabled, it shows all paragraphs on the left, and you can quickly jump to the one you're interested in. This is especially useful on the FAQ page, which is quite long.

The overlay is written in JS, so it won't work if you have JS disabled in your browser. However, the code is completely free, and it's compatible with libreJS. Open / Comment
