On the authority of Muḥammad b. Ḥāṭib who said: When my mother | Al-Jadwal

On the authority of Muḥammad b. Ḥāṭib who said: When my mother came from al Ḥabashah (Ethiopia) after my father Ḥāṭib had died, she brought me to the Prophet ﷺ as one of my hands had burns.
وَعَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ قَالَ: «لَمَّا قَدِمَتْ بِي أُمِّي مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ حِينَ مَاتَ أَبِي حَاطِبٌ، فَجَاءَتْ أُمِّي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَقَدْ أَصَابَ إِحْدَى يَدَيْ حَرِيقٌ مِنْ نَارٍ،

She said: “O Messenger of Allah, this is Muḥammad b. Ḥāṭib the the son of your brother. He has suffered these burns.”
فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، هَذَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاطِبٍ، ابْنُ أَخِيكَ، وَقَدْ أَصَابَهُ هَذَا الْحَرْقُ مِنَ النَّارِ

Muḥammad b. Ḥāṭib said: “I do not lie upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I do not remember, did he blow on to or rub my head, and he supplicated for blessings for me and my offspring.”
قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاطِبٍ: فَلَا أَكْذِبُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَلَا أَدْرِي أَنَفَثَ أَمْ مَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِي، وَدَعَا لِي بِالْبَرَكَةِ وَفِي ذَرِّيَّتِي».

Reported by al-Ṭabarānī; I do not know al-Ḥārith b. Muḥammad b. Ḥāṭib, but the rest of the narrators are reliable.

رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ، وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ.
