Yesterday 23 March, a huge container ship «Ever Given» ran aground and blocked traffic in both directions on the Suez Canal. The ship stands across the channel and so far, attempts by tugs to move and turn it have been unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, the sea plug already consists of dozens of different ships, which only have to wait for the resolution of this problem.
Container shipping experts have said that it could be a "good while" before the Ever Given is freed from its position blocking the Suez Canal, with the ship fast aground and its bulbous bow embedded in the canal bank.

2021-03-19 12:37:15 ​Kongsberg Equip First U.S.-Built Wind Turbine Installation Vessel.

Kongsberg Maritime has received $40 million contract to supply equipment for the first Wind Turbine Installation Vessel being built in the United States.

The WTIV is under construction at the Keppel AmFELS shipyard in Brownsville, Texas for U.S. energy company Dominion Energy.
The new WTIV, one of the biggest of its kind in the world, will be able to transport and install several sets of next-generation wind turbines and their foundations for offshore wind projects slated for the U.S. East Coast.

The vessel will be the first vessel of its type to be built within the requirements of the Jones Act, which will apply to renewable energy production on the U.S. federal waters.

Delivery of the vessel is planned by the end of 2023.

Kongsberg Maritime will deliver an integrated solution, with motion control, propulsion and dynamic positioning to ensure the best possible operation in all conditions. In addition, the company will supply propulsion, deck machinery, electrical and automation systems, together with telecommunications equipment.
