#IELTSmyth

Some people think that in speaking it is a disaster to say ‘I don’t know’, so they choose to stay silent if they can’t come up with an idea. However, keep in mind that IELTS checks your language skills rather than mindset or outlook. This means that you can say you don’t know an answer to a question, produce your predictions, and say something related to question. This is what examiners actually expect from you.

Even in real life in your native language , some questions in IELTS speaking (possibly Part 3) may be hard to answer immediately. They take a while to think about. But definitely if you are given these questions in Uzbek or Russian, you wouldn’t stay silent for minutes, right? You’d say something. English is not an exception.

So, when an examiner asks you a hard question, don’t stay silent. If you don’t know the answer to the question, state that. Then, give your predictions and extend. That’s totally fine. This is verified.
