Apple will charge 27% commission for app purchases made using alternative payment systems in the Netherlands

Apple today provided some additional details about how it will allow dating apps in the Netherlands to offer alternative payment systems, in compliance with a legal decision (that Apple is simultaneously appealing).

The biggest tidbit from this is the reveal of the reduced commission structure. Apple typically charges 30% commission on purchases made using its In-App Purchase system. The commission levied on alternative payment systems has been set at 27%, net of tax.

Dating apps in the Netherlands can choose to offer alternative payment systems by linking out to a website, or using a native in-app flow. Apps must include special entitlements in their app binary and call an Apple API before redirecting the user, that presents a modal sheet that tells a customer they are being directed to a non-Apple payments service.

Each month, developers will have to send a report to Apple that lists their sales.

All-new Apple Yas Mall now open in Abu Dhabi

The brand new Apple Yas Mall opened this Thursday, February 3, at the bustling shopping destination in Abu Dhabi. Nearly doubling the size of the original location that opened in 2015, the store serves as a reimagined space for customers to browse Apple’s latest products and services, receive the best support from knowledgeable team members, and participate in free Today at Apple sessions.

Customers can discover Apple’s products and services at surrounding tables and avenues; learn more about Apple’s Trade In program across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch; and get shopping support from Apple Specialists. Apple Yas Mall includes 100 highly trained team members who collectively speak 33 languages and represent 32 nationalities. The diverse team has nearly doubled since the store originally opened in 2015, and more than half remains part of the team that will welcome customers to the new Apple Yas Mall location.

The Google One VPN is now available on iPhones

The VPN service that’s included with a Google One Premium subscription is finally available on iPhones after Google’s promise in October 2020 that it would come to iOS. While a Google-run VPN has been available on the platform for months via the Google Fi cell service, today’s update means that anyone who pays for 2TB or more of Google One storage should now also get a VPN for their phone.

The VPN is available to people in 18 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, and Mexico.

@google also mentions some features it’s added to the VPN for Android users, including a “safe disconnect” feature that shuts off internet access if you’re disconnected from the VPN (which should make sure that your data doesn’t end up going somewhere unexpected). It also mentions that you can set certain apps to bypass the VPN if you’re using it on Android.

Apple Watch Getting New Activity Challenge for Heart Month

We will be offering a new Heart Month Activity Challenge this month. Apple Watch users can complete the Activity Challenge by completing 30 minutes in their Exercise ring on February 14 to earn a special award and custom iMessage stickers.

Also starting February 14, Apple Fitness+ will feature a special section of 30-minute energizing workouts, along with a new Time to Walk episode featuring former mixed martial arts champion Georges St-Pierre.

In celebration of Heart Month this February, Apple will also be offering themed content across the App Store, the Apple TV app, Apple Podcasts, and Apple Books.

Apple also shared preliminary analysis of activity data from its Apple Heart and Movement Study. Researchers found that after analyzing more than 18 million workouts logged using Apple Watch during the pandemic, study participants relied on getting their activity minutes in by walking, cycling, and running the most.

If you had invested in Bitcoin a year ago

You would have recorded a profit of 20-25% right now! "Powerful" growth, right? What kind of X's...

But the author of "Crypto Leader" channel analyzed the market in details, thanks to which he knew exactly:

- The limit of BTC growth in 2021
- Periods of correction and their duration
- What coins will give X5 in a year

Invest wisely, read @Crypto_Leade

P.S. Yes, there are dozens of channels on Telegram about cryptocurrencies. But how many of them give the same accurate predictions?

Apple Car 2.0

Imagine the entirely possible future where, with few exceptions, private vehicles are banned from major metro areas such as San Francisco, New York City, and Chicago. Sure, you can take public transportation into the city, but you better hope your destination is located close to a train or bus stop.

Alternatively, you can drive your personal car to an Apple Car pickup point located just outside the city. Once parked, the Apple Car you scheduled via your smartphone's app will whisk you away to your specific metropolitan destination with no driving required.

Although some users will lease a private Apple Car, most will subscribe to the service that allows them to use the company's fleet of shared autonomous vehicles. Apple Car lessees and subscribers will largely consist of individuals who frequently enter city centers that ban private vehicles.

Apple targets a launch as early as 2025.

Three New iOS Features Expected for iPhones Later This Year

Below,
we have listed new features that are planned for future iOS versions, along with a few features that are set to be expanded.

1. Driver's Licenses in Wallet App

Starting in "early 2022," residents of select U.S. states will be able to add their driver's license or state ID to the Wallet app on the iPhone and Apple Watch, providing a convenient and contactless way to display proof of identity or age.

2. Square-Like Payments

Apple has been working on a new feature that will turn the iPhone into a payments terminal without any additional hardware like the popular Square Reader. The feature would allow an iPhone to accept payments when another iPhone or credit card is tapped on the back of the device.

3. Apple Music Classical

We plan to launch a dedicated classical music app in 2022 that combines Primephonic's best features with additional features and benefits. The app will be available to Apple Music subscribers "later this year."

Pregnant man, pregnant person emoji coming to Apple iPhones

A "pregnant man" emoji and "pregnant person" emoji are coming to Apple iPhones with its latest update, iOS 15.4.

The pregnant emoji aren't new for some, since they arrived as part of an update that emoji-encyclopedia Emojipedia announced in September 2021. However, Apple's version of the emoji were released Thursday as part of iOS 15.4 beta — a voluntary system update iPhone users can choose to install.

The update will come to all iPhone users later this year.
