Zeabuz - electric, automatic, smart

The small Norwegian metropolis of Trondheim, with its bright seaport, does not look very futuristic. But the former Viking city will become a home for transport initiative: an automatic, zero-emission electronic ferry will be launched here in the coming year.

Scientists from the Norwegian Institute of Science and Technology have invented an independent ferry, and the intentionally designed firm Zeabuz will build it.

The electronic ferry will run on the channel separating the port and the middle of the metropolis and will work like an elevator. Passengers on either side of the canal will be able to push a button to call the ferry to their own side. Zeabuz accommodates up to 12 passengers, bikes, and crosses the canal in less than 60 seconds, saving passengers from a 15-minute walk. While the boat is waiting at the pier, it charges.
