2022-10-07 12:11:28 G299 is the remnant of a Type Ia supernova explosion that happened thousands of years ago. Located somewhat close by, only about 16,000 light-years from Earth, this expanding debris field is more than 60 light-years across.

2022-09-02 18:12:16 The tiny pink dot in the center of this image is a magnetar — a type of neutron star with the most powerful known magnetic fields in the Universe. If a magnetar was located a sixth of the way to the Moon (~64,000 km), it would wipe the data from all of the credit cards on Earth!

The strength of Earth's magnetic field has a value of about 1 Gauss, while a refrigerator magnet measures about 100 Gauss. Magnetars have magnetic fields of about a million billion Gauss.
