Jack Dorsey has stepped down from his role as CEO of Twitter, the company said Monday. He became Twitter CEO in 2006, and
will remain a member of the Board until 2022
.
CTO Parag Agrawal is Dorsey's successor, Twitter said. Agrawal has been with Twitter for more than a decade and has been its CTO since 2017.
"I want you all to know that this was my decision and I own it," Dorsey wrote to his employees. "It was a tough one for me." Read more from the letter announcing his resignation.
