2021-02-13 22:05:58 7th Pay Commission: 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗚 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭?

While Central Government Employees await some news on the 7th Pay Commission, there is news relating to the wage code.
The new wage code will come into effect from April 1 2021 and this would mean that the salary of the CG employees is likely to rise.
The monthly provident fund and gratuity contribution may change from April 1. This is because the new wage code proposed by the Centre has the provision to have the employees' basic salary at 50 per cent of one's net monthly CTC. This means from April 1 2021, you will not get more than 50 per cent of your net monthly salary in the form of advance and this would eventually affect the pay structure that includes the take home salary, PF and Gratuity.

While the government is yet to announce any deadline on the implementation of the wage code, it is likely that the same may be implemented from April 1 2021. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her budget speech had said that the LTC has been kept in tax exemption due to COVID-19. The government hopes that this scheme will also bring in more money into the pockets of government employees, which would lead to increased spending.

The month of April may bring in a host of changes in the employees' pay structure, once the new wage code is brought into effect. The government's notification on Code on Wages 2019 may reduce the take-home pay of employees next financial year ie, April 2021 while components like PF and Gratuity might rise. This is based on the grounds that the new wage code mentions provision entailing that the employee's basic salary will be at least 50 percent of his/her net monthly CTC. Hence, if this provision comes into effect, it will mean that employees will not be able to get more than 50 percent of his/her net monthly salary in form of allowance.

2021-02-09 22:12:42 Centre's new labour codes to allow 4-day work per week.

Addressing a press briefing, Chandra said that the Centre was not forcing employers or employees to comply with the provision adding that this was being brought in to provide flexibility and to be in sync with changing work culture in the country.

The Centre under its new labour codes would soon provide an option for organisations to allow their employees to work for four days in a week. Union labour secretary Apurva Chandra said on Monday this provision will comprise a work limit of 48 hours per week, adding that organisations would have three choices - deploying employees for four days at 12 hours per day, five days at around 10 hours per day and six days at eight hours per day.
