New Tweet From @BNODesk
@semcbride1 You might be confusing daily case numbers with the 7-day average, which takes weekend numbers into account. Last Saturday, cases went up by 8% week-over-week
@jonerickson18 @semcbride1 It means the rolling 7-day average for new cases has gone down 2 days in a row. We also looked at which states aren't reporting today and cases are still down when this is taken into account
@charlesw0781 @Lattepalmtrees 3 states (NE, OK and FL) failed to report and 1 state (DE) failed to report last week but reported today. When all of this is taken into account, new cases are still down 6%
@charlesw0781 @Lattepalmtrees Week-over-week means it's comparing today's number to last Saturday, when 100,947 new cases were reported. (Florida failed to report today, but it's still lower when you take this into account)
U.S. COVID update: New cases drop week-over-week for second day in a row - New cases: 69,740 - Average: 160,734 (-4,458) - In hospital: 101,807 (-464) - In ICU: 26,290 (+31) - New deaths: 592 More data: https://t.co/YDZSbYO7l7
U.S. COVID update: More than 2,000 new deaths - New cases: 191,655 - Average: 165,192 (-61) - In hospital: 102,271 (-131) - In ICU: 26,259 (+150) - New deaths: 2,036 More data: https://t.co/YDZSbYO7l7
@LauraMiers The headline is referring to the 7-day average, which is specified in the article. The Washington Post coronavirus tracker reported more than 3,000 new deaths on Thursday https://t.co/ukf1P42Xc9 https://t.co/RffARVNC8a
