Robert Ménard is the mayor of Béziers, a medium-sized town in the south of France, a regional capital.

He is known for taking a "conservative" stance.

He was recently banned from twitter for stating that :
"the sudanese are not part of European civilisation".

This is an extremely controversial statement in France, where the universalist vision asserts the opposite: since society is based on the "social contract", then anyone can become French or European by their own invidious will.
