2021-02-13 14:40:57 I enjoy working with statistics as they help us to identify many trends. Looking at the picture above you can understand that every 2 out 4 students does not know how to go abroad to study or at least is nor sure that his/her way is viable. I had a similar problem a month ago when I was searching for a way to study my Master's abroad. Below is a channel where I found the solution. Well it was not a quick one but it helped me to understand the real process of winning scholarships. I hope Grant Detective helps you too.

1. Cambridge IELTS series from 8 to 15 (8 books / 4 tests in each).
If you know about these books you may wonder why I did not advise Cambridge 5-7. The answer is simple: as the years go on the test and its structure is changing. If you want to stay updated Cambridge 9 is a better option to start.

2. IELTS Trainer / IELTS Trainer2 (2 books / 6 tests in each)
One of its specific advantages is it divides the whole parts into more manageable and smaller chunks, thus helps you to master each question type easily.

3. IELTS Tests Plus 3 (1 book / 7 tests)
Despite being a bit old-fashioned the book still serves its purpose well. The first and second books are already too old and I personally don't think they can perfectly match with the recent tests.

4. Official Cambridge Guide to IELTS (1 book / 6 tests)
This is one of the perfect books that has ever been written for IELTS. It starts by introducing theoretical part followed by Practical tests. You can use any of them based on what you need.

So far I have counted 4 most reliable sources for practicing with 57 tests. If you learn to practise wisely it can keep you well busy for more than 2 months.

These words and their correct spelling may make a difference in writing between 6 and 7;
So make sure that you know the right spelling!

2021-02-09 08:44:41 The recent opinion of Pauline Cullen towards Mindset series was somehow viral among IELTS students. In short she believes that Mindset cannot be seen as a reliable source as it has been written by IELTS examiners. It is true that the authors of Mindset are experienced IELTS teachers and the book has some defects in it. However, it would be wrong to assume that makes the book obsolete. I believe that we should accept the fact that even the reliable resources can have their disadvantages. A clear example of the case can be seen in Official Guide to IELTS. It is not hard to tell that the balance of difficulty in both reading and listening has been lost. As a result, Listening tests are far easier while opposite is true for Readings.

In my experience both Mindset and Official guide were helpful to my students, and we should not forget that both were accepted by Cambridge Press, so keep your focus up and carry on with your preparation!
