Counter: 20

VO: Chinese American guy in early 30s. Rejected 2 Guys in-front of me with 214b. They were fumbling a lot.

University: Arizona State University
Intake: FALL 22
Course: Masters in Global Management(STEM)
Status: 221g Yellow Slip

Me: Hello Sir! Good morning!
VO: Hey! Please pass me your I-20 & Passport.

VO: Arizona State?! Nice!
Me: Yes Sir.

VO: Why particularly US?
Me: Sir, I had applied to universities in France, UK, Germany as well and got admits too but after researching thoroughly, I realised US
presents better opportunities in terms of building network and making connections with people from different background & culture. Also, there would have been an issue of language barrier if I decided to go to Germany or France.

VO: Okay And why Arizona State ?
Me: Sir, among the 3 universities (ASU, NEU & UTD) I applied to in the US, only ASU offers a unique course in management with focus on global perspective. The program is AACSB accredited which only 5% of all the Business schools in the world hold. Other than that, the program is pretty flexible offering 17 different concentrations which I could even change in the middle of the course without any issues.

VO: Ok nice! Place your fingers.
Me: Yes Sir.

VO: Oh your start date is 18 Aug 2022.
Me: Yes sir. Actually I was supposed to go in the spring intake but due to unavailability of slots, I took whatever slot I got on consulting people with a similar case and the University.

VO: Sorry I can’t approve your visa right now. Please give me your I-20, passport & SEVIS Fee Receipt. You need not give an interview again. Just sit tight and wait. If we need any additional documents, we’ll mail you.

VO passes me a 221g Yellow Slip and tells me to wait for 12 days until my 120 days gap starts. He only wrote, “Admin Processing” on the Current Passport header in the slip.

I got home and check my Visa status on the CEAC Website and it shows as, “Refused”.

18 April 2022: Status changes to “Administrative Processing”

19 April 2022: Status changed to “Issued”
