Germany v Latvia - International FriendlyPhoto by Lars Baron/Getty ImagesThe pair of Die Mannschaft and Bayern stars have both surpassed 100 CAPS and are going to be properly recognized for it.As confirmed by Sky Germany, both Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller will be honored ahead of Germany’s World Cup qualifier against Armenia at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart tomorrow. Both will receive said honor for reaching, and surpassing the 100 CAP mark for Die Mannschaft. They will both receive official jerseys that have the number 100 on the back beneath their names.Technically, the pair of Bayern Munich players had already reached 100 matches prior to this occasion. Neuer’s 100th cap came in Germany’s tune up friendly against Latvia back in the beginning of June, which they won 7-1. Muller’s had come all the way back in the fall of 2018, when he came on as a sub in the 2-2 draw against the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League campaign following the 2018 World Cup in Russia. It was shortly after that Joachim Low had made the decision to remove Muller, Mats Hummels, and Jerome Boateng from the national team setup.Because of more than 12 months of geisterspiele due to the coronavirus pandemic and severely reduced capacities for the Euro 2020 tune-up friendlies, the proper opportunity to honor both Neuer and Muller never really properly came up. The DFB wanted to wait until they were able to have spectators inside a venue to do so and tomorrow’s clash in Stuttgart provides the perfect opportunity. The DFB had given out 18,000 free tickets for the qualifier as the Mercedes-Benz Arena will host a decent capacity for the encounter.Neuer is slated to return to the lineup after recovering from a slight injury, while Muller will miss the match through an adductor injury, but he will still accept the honor before kickoff. The DFB had also invited former manager Joachim Low to be honored, but he wanted to delay his honor. The reason being because Low didn’t want to take away any of the attention from Hansi Flick since it’s his first set of matches in charge of Die Mannschaft. Low will be honored at a later date that’s yet to be determined.
