We are excited to invite you to the Taking First Steps in Your IT Career workshop in the framework of the Career Development 101 series. Our speaker, Yana Veitsman ‘17 is a Junior Developer at VMware, with experience of working with companies in Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, and Belgium.

Yana will talk about the importance of gaining practical experience while studying at a university: especially if you plan on working in an IT field. She will share first-hand experience on how to combine studies and work, what is the difference between an internship and a part-time job, and should you start working in a startup or in a corporation.

During the event you will:
• learn about possible ways to combine studies and work in IT (freelance, summer internships, part-time job)
• gain insights about technical interviews process and recruitments (typical interview process, what is needed for an application, what are the main resources to search for opportunities)
