"The Cultural Layer. How do entire cities go underground?
During the reconstruction of the Vrubel Museum in Omsk, builders discovered an unexplainable phenomenon: a full floor, hidden from view before, was found underground. Windows, window sills, front door: everything indicated that this floor had been inhabited before.
And such phenomena are not only found in Omsk. St. Petersburg, Moscow, Rome, Paris - in every old city municipal workers and builders stumble upon entire multi-story buildings hidden underground.
It is believed that many cities were rebuilt at least several times. They were destroyed by earthquakes, floods, epidemics and sandstorms.
When a city was completely wiped out, it was rebuilt: architects built on the walls of older buildings and erected new ones, filling in the destroyed structures in layers.
Imagine, there may well be a few extra stories under your house!
