A 35 member grand jirga (tribal council) has been formed in South Waziristan to mediate talks between the Pakistan Army and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The decision came after Pakistani security forces gave deadline to the Mehsud tribe to evacuate the area for army operations.
