*SUNDAY DECEMBER 12*

*FEAR THE LORD*

*Mal. 3:16-17*

_Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name. 17 “They shall be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels. and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.”_

The background to this is that God levelled a rebuke against Israel because Israel said it is futile to serve God and questioned whether it was worthwhile carrying out His requirements. He also talked of the situation where the arrogant were called blessed and evil men prospered and seemed to get away with it.
Naturally when God spoke like this to Israel, you immediately know what follows: judgement. No one predicts the judgement God brings upon Israel to correct them and make them cry unto the Lord again.

Take note of this critical happening here. Those who feared the Lord were not part of this arrogance, and a book of remembrance was written before the Lord for them. This could simply mean that God did not forget those who feared Him.

Listen to what the Lord said: “On that day I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him”. Your guess is as right as mine concerning those who did not fear the Lord.

If all these happened as examples for us who live today, then we are blessed. We have the opportunity to be part of those whose names will be in God’s book of remembrance when judgement strikes. What does it cost to fear the Lord? I think it only costs us our pride; the same thing that goes before a fall. Think about this.

*Prayer*
1. Thank the Lord for the opportunity you have to be spared of any evil that will happen to humanity.
2. Pray that you will always fear and honor the Lord in your heart.
3. Father, please keep my heart upright, fearing and honoring You in all I do.

*Declarations*
I declare that I have experienced the favor and blessing of the Lord in my life and continue to do so. Therefore, God remains the Focus of my worship and service. I uphold Jesus above all things. God’s word continues to drive my life. Henceforth, I declare by the grace of God that I will hold on in obedience to only what God has said in the name of Jesus.
