2021-06-30 08:09:10 Hello and Welcome!

To Global Young Lawyers Network (GYLN) – Digitally driven connector club of young lawyers across the globe with common goal to support each other and learn from each other.

Founders of the GYLN are happy to help you connect and act as moderators in the process.

Vision: The GYLN to provide leadership, networking, professional development, information sharing, referral opportunities, in addition to a business development network. And as others we will have a chance to have lots of fun!

Benefits of the GYLN to members: To learn about the legal practice in other jurisdictions, to learn about new tools/technology/software for lawyers, to connect with peer lawyers from other jurisdiction, to refer each other to clients, to stay updated about cool/interesting legal news internationally, to read interesting content weekly through our posts on our social media, listening to / watching interviews of lawyers from different jurisdictions.

As any Club/Network/Association we have our rules to follow.
Rules:
• Do not disclose confidential information. Honor the terms of your contracts with your client. Do not disclose or use confidential or proprietary information of your firm or any client in any form when you are communicating here. Sharing this type of information, even unintentionally, can result in legal action against you, the firm or the client.
• Respect the privacy of the partners and associates, lawyers that are part of the GYLN as well as the opinions of others. Before sharing a comment, post, picture or video about a client or other attorney through any means in our network, obtaining the client’s or attorney’s consent is not only a courtesy, it also is a requirement.
• Avoid personal attacks, online fights and hostile communications. If any other member of the GYLN posts a statement with which you disagree, voice your opinion, but do not escalate the conversation to a heated argument. Write reasonably, factually and with good humor. Understand and credit the other person’s point of view and avoid any communications that could result in personal, professional or credibility attacks.
• Obey the law. Do not post any information or conduct any online activities that might violate applicable local, state, or federal laws or regulations, or any ethical guidelines for our profession.
• Never be false or misleading in your online credentials. Attorneys and other professional staff members must maintain complete accuracy in all of their online biographies (bios) and ensure there is no embellishment. For example, for a lawyer’s bio to state “Harvard-trained” after the attorney attends a weekend CLE course at Harvard is inaccurate and noncompliant with the rules.
• Be respectful to your profession and to others in the GYLN.
• Follow common legal ethic rules that are applicable internationally and locally applicable to yourself.
We reserve the right to update, amend the rules above and add new ones if required.

Wiki about lawyers networking:
Networking is:
• communicating and connecting with professionals to build community;
• learning about attorneys’ experiences and career paths;
• getting advice and insight about entering into a field; and
• obtaining referrals for other potential networking contacts.
Networking is not asking someone for a job.
While most people are happy to share their own experiences and provide advice, they generally do not appreciate being asked directly for a job on the first contact. Often asking for a job will end the professional relationship before it has begun.

Please stay with us and invite your lawyer friends!
