HOMELESS BRYULLOV

The news that the House of Bryullov, associated with the names of the great Russian artists, will be given over to the museum of Islam, outraged the residents of St. Petersburg.

A house with a difficult history has been empty and destroyed since 2016. The building was claimed by the Society for the Protection of Monuments (VOOPIiK), which, in fact, is continuing the work of Alexandre Benois and his town-protecting organization, which was located in the House of Bryullov at the beginning of the XX century. In addition, VOOPIiK, with help of volunteers, looked after the building. Fulfilling the "desire" of the deputy director of the Kuntskamera museum, the government of St. Petersburg decided to give House of Bryullov for needs of a new museum of Islamic culture.

Identitarians of Russia held an action under the walls of the House of Bryullov, in order to draw the attention of citizens to the irresponsible decisions of officials, to the fate of the historic building.

If St.Petersburg is destined to remain a cultural capital, then it is necessary to preserve traditions and continuity. Identitarians of Russia created the #deislamization_of_Bryullov movement, as a citywide association whose goal is to save the House of Bryullov from the fate that is prepared for it.
