IDF: Soldiers from the Golani Reconnaissance Battalion train in Morocco

For the First Time, the IDF Will Take an Active Part in the International Exercise “African Lion” on Moroccan Land

A delegation of 12 soldiers and commanders from the Golani Reconnaissance Battalion left yesterday (Sunday), for the "African Lion 2023" exercise led by the Israeli Ground Forces in Morocco.

Participating in the exercise are about 18 countries and approximately 8,000 soldiers from the U.S. Armed Forces, the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces and the Ghana Armed Forces.

This is the first time that the IDF is taking an active part in the “African Lion” international exercise.

During the next two weeks, the soldiers will focus on training in various combat challenges that combine urban warfare and underground warfare, in which they will conclude in a common exercise for all participating armies.

The purpose of the exercise is to strengthen the relationship between the countries. Additionally, to create a mutual learning opportunity allowing the foreign armies to share knowledge.
