Let's start a day with a writing task:

Some people think that music should not be added to a school curriculum. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

It is important to consider whether music should be taught at schools. While some people believe music to be odd, I would argue that the subject should be a part of a school curriculum.

The function of schools should be to give basic knowledge about a wide range of fields. This is because pupils should explore various spheres of expertise before choosing one, which should be engaging and interesting for them. For example, some schoolchildren may not be well suited for exact subjects such as mathematics, and music may be the perfect fit for them. If schools were concerned more about one specific field, there may be some pupils who are talented in other subjects, and this bias may lead to less engagement and quality in their future careers.

Moreover, music as a subject enables people’s sense of connectedness to develop. Whereas during other lessons such as mathematics, students work on their own by solving problems and answering questions, at music, children are asked to sing a song as a choir, which makes them feel others in their group to keep up with the speed. If music is dropped from the school curriculum, schoolers would grow up to adults without this sense that would be less able to collaborate and work in a group.

In conclusion, music offers a variety of benefits for schoolchildren such as the notion of helpfulness. In my opinion, pupils should study music at least because there may be some, who may be keen to learn this field, but will be uninformed about their interest.
