One of the brothers from the people of Beirut said: “al-Awzāʿī's mother would enter his home and would look for where he would pray. And she would find it wet from his tears in the night.”

وَأَخْبَرَنِي بَعْضُ إِخْوَانِي مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْرُوْتَ: أَنَّ أُمَّهُ كَانَتْ تَدْخُلُ مَنْزِلَ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ، وَتَتَفَّقَدُ مَوْضِعَ مُصَلاَّهُ، فَتَجِدُهُ رَطْباً مِنْ دُمُوْعِهِ فِي اللَّيْلِ.
