Maybank IBG Key Calls
Allianz Malaysia - Attractive dividend yield

While flood claims are likely to feature in 4Q21, provision levels are likely to be manageable and we expect operations to have improved QoQ with the opening up of the economy and an end to the lockdowns. Encouragingly, we expect MFRS17 to have a positive impact on group earnings when it is adopted in 2023. We maintain our BUY call on Allianz with an unchanged SOP-derived TP of MYR16.75. Dividend yield is attractive at 4.8%.

o After falling for six consecutive trading days, the KLCI could stage a rebound today. Nevertheless, trading will remain choppy amid concerns over Federal Reserve policy tightening and geopolitical tension. Technically, we expect the KLCI to range between 1,515 pts and 1,545pts today, with supports at 1,515pts and 1,475pts.

o Haily (HAILY MK): Its wholly-owned subsidiary Haily Construction S/B was awarded a MYR41.3m contract to undertake construction works at Aurora Sentral, Iskandar Puteri, Johor. This is the first contract award of the year. HAILY’s core competency is in Johor, in particular Johor Bahru and Kulai districts. Stock trades at 19.5x annualized 9M21 EPS. It is sitting on a net cash of MYR36.4m at end-Sep 2021, which is around 45% of its market capitalization.

o Opcom (OHB MK): Its subsidiary Opcom Cables S/B was awarded a MYR26.5m contract by *Telekom Malaysia (T MK, CP: MYR5.15, TP: MYR7.40, BUY)* to supply fiber optic cables from 23 Dec 2021 to 31 Dec 2023. With the latest award, the group has secured three contracts in FY3/22. Still, more contract win is needed as its unbilled contract value was only at c.MYR34m as at 21 Jul 2021. Stock trades at 23.4x annualized 1HFY3/22 EPS. It is sitting on a net cash of MYR60.3m at end-Sep 2021, equivalent to about 24% of its market capitalization.

2022-01-24 03:32:21 Maybank IBG Research "Trader's Almanac" Regional Edition 24 Jan 2022, Potential Rotation from the US Market to Asia-Pacific Equities

The MSCI Asia Pacific ex. Japan Index bouncing off from major support zones…

The S&P 500 Index (SPX) is approaching the correction territory after losing 8.73% over the past two weeks while testing the major 200-day EMA line last Friday. The creation of the new lower low structure indicates the selling pressure remains strong and could drag the index towards the next level of support at 4,300. Meanwhile, the downtrend in the MSCI Asia Pacific ex. Japan Index since the high of 745.89 on Feb-21 could be at the tail’s end following the emergence of fresh buying interest within the key support level of: 1) major resistance-turned-support at 610; 2) major 38.2% FR level; and 3) minor 61.8% FR level. The index is set to break the downtrend channel amid the bullish divergence signal between the price (lower low structure) and the RSI (higher low structure). A breakout above 640.00 could validate the reversal signal with the next target being pegged at 660.00 and 690.00. Violation of the immediate support zones between 606.00 and 617.00 could nullify the bullish signal with the next support pegged at 573.00. In terms of relative strength between SPX and the MSCI Asia Pacific ex. Japan Index, the latter could start outperforming the former in the near term.

For this week, we highlight the stocks worth accumulating across the ASEAN regions.

MALAYSIA – Accumulate Bank Islam & CIMB Group Holdings
INDONESIA – Accumulate Chandra Asri & Perusahaan Gas Negara
PHILIPPINES – Accumulate BDO Unibank & JG Summit
SINGAPORE – Accumulate Singapore Airlines & Bumitama Agri
THAILAND – Accumulate Jay Mart & Singer Thailand
VIETNAM – Accumulate Military Commercial JSB & PetroVietnam Drilling

Maybank IBG Key Calls
Thailand Property - Staying optimistic
2021 combined presales rose 5% YoY despite a 23% decrease in new launches. Moving into 2022, we est. combined new launches to jump 97% YoY, driving presales/revenue/earnings growth to a double-digit rate. We est. 4Q21 earnings to recover 26% QoQ, driving full year growth to 3%. In our view, LH, QH and PSH should see strong 4Q21 earnings rebounds QoQ while SPALI is likely to see the strongest 2021 earnings growth at 38% YoY. LH is our top Buy with decent growth expected in all its business units.

MY
o The KLCI is set for a cautious start after Wall Street tumbled last Friday while the fall in crude oil prices will also weigh on sentiment. That said, downside could be capped amid bottom fishing ahead of CNY. Planters may also benefit from the strong CPO prices. Technically, we expect the benchmark index to range between 1,515 and 1,555 today, with supports at 1,515 and 1,500.

o Plantations: MPOB reported record export revenue of MYR106.5b in 2021. Here we highlight some key observations: (1) planted area declined for a second consecutive year; (2) CPO yield fell to levels not seen since 1998; (3) PPO imports flooded the MY market; and (4) there were negative trends in downstream utilization rates. The MY government is cognizant of these challenges and is reviewing the relevant policies to ensure MY’s PO exports continue to stay competitive. Preferred BUYs are KLK, SOP and BPLANT.

o ES Ceramics Technology (ESC MK): 2QFY5/22 PATMI jumped 252% YoY, lifting 1HFY5/22 net profit to MYR23.6m (+227% YoY). The stronger 1HFY5/22 results were mainly attributable to a 115% YoY increase in revenue and margin expansion, which more than offset a higher effective tax rate. ESC’s 1HFY5/22 results benefitted from the expansion by glove makers, of which demand for gloves was partly supported by the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, though our analyst believes that the sector outlook is challenging. Stock trades at 5.8x annualized 1HFY5/22 EPS.
