Maybank IBG Key Calls
Malaysia Banking - The effect of rising interest rates

Rate hikes should generally benefit banks’ earnings and positively, the ROEs of most banks could return to over 10% in FY23 as a result. Additionally, we think that current MGS yields seem to already reflect future rate increases and thus future MTM losses are likely to be contained, if any at all. Moreover, we believe banks have sufficient provisions to buffer against potential asset quality issues arising from higher borrowing costs.

MY
o The subdued performance in overnight Wall Street amid recession concerns as well as the wait for Malaysia CPI data on Friday will give the bears the upper hand today. O&G and plantation stocks will continue to face selling pressure after commodity prices tanked. Technically, we expect the KLCI to range between 1,420 and 1,450pts today, with supports at 1,400 and 1,350pts.

o Mestron (MESTRON MK): Secured contracts worth MYR17.5m under the JENDELA Phase 1 project since its rollout five months ago. The contracts came from various customers, namely Smartgen Technology S/B, Hytro Vista S/B and OCK Setia Engineering S/B. The projects are expected to be delivered by Aug 2022. MESTRON targets to win another MYR20m worth of contracts over the next six months from its telco segment. Stock is trading at 57.5x annualised 1Q22 EPS.

o Omesti (OMST MK): Its indirect 51%-owned subsidiary Formis Network Services S/B was awarded a MYR25.3m contract by Tenaga Nasional (TNB MK, TP: MYR9.30, HOLD) for the leasing of personal computers for a duration of three years, commencing on 21 Jun 2022. Its earnings track record, however, has been volatile (loss making in seven out of the past eight years). But it owns 50.6% equity interest in Microlink Solutions (MICL MK, CP: 0.58, Not Rated). Stock trades at a PB of 1.0x. Warrants are out-of-the-money.

Maybank IBG Key Calls
CTOS Digital Berhad - Planning on making a general offer to acquire RAM Holdings

CTOS plans to make a general offer on the remaining shareholders of RAM at an indicative equity valuation of RM280-300m. We expect CTOS’ shareholding could increase from 19.2% currently, to between 51% and 81%. The offer will be debt-funded, and likely to be earnings accretive, given attractive acquisition multiple of <20x, realising synergies and tapping on the SME market. We maintain BUY rating and forecasts, but trim our TP to RM1.86, based on lower regional median PEG of 2.0x (from 2.2x).

MY
o Buoyed by gains in overnight US markets, the KLCI is set to extend its upward trajectory, though trading could be choppy as concerns over economic downturn and inflation linger. O&G and plantation stocks will remain choppy due to the volatility in commodity prices. Technically, we expect the benchmark index to range between 1,445 and 1,485 today, with supports at 1,452 and 1,400.

o Cypark Resources (CYP MK): We visited Cypark’s waste-to-energy (WTE) plant in Ladang Tanah Merah, Negeri Sembilan, along with some fund managers and analysts for a briefing and tour of the facility. The WTE plant is currently under testing and commissioning stage and scheduled for commercial operation (COD) by September 2022. Our revised MYR1.01 TP (MYR1.35 previously) is based on SOP, after imputing new estimated commissioning timeframe for its WTE, LSS2 and LSS3 projects. Our valuation implies FY22E PER of 15.2x. Maintain BUY.

o Handal Energy (HDL MK): Its 51%-owned subsidiary Borneo Seaoffshore Engineering S/B secured three new purchase orders and one contract extension from new and existing clients. The contracts do not have any specified value as they are on call-out basis. The contract win should be well received by investors as a strong pipeline will help to sustain its turnaround. That said, its order book is largely based on call-outs and there is no certainty that work orders of high values will be issued in the near term. The stock is trading at a PB of 0.4x.

o UWC (UWC MK): Reported a net profit of MYR28.7m in 3QFY7/22 (+25% YoY), lifting 9MFY7/22 PATMI to MYR76.8m (+7% YoY). The stronger 3QFY7/22 results were mainly attributable to higher revenue and margins expansion. The World Semiconductor Trades Statistics expect the worldwide semiconductor market to grow by 10.4% in 2022, and UWC anticipates positive prospects for the industries that it is participating in, namely semiconductor, life science and 5G technology. Stock trades at 24.7x consensus FY7/23 EPS.
