The space agency released a video touting its "Mission Equity", featuring astronauts in a rainbow of skin tones, urging the viewer to join NASA.
“At NASA, we’re on a mission of equity, launching opportunity […] to reach those we’ve never reached before […] to shatter boundaries and break down barriers across America,” the video says.
It drew a lackluster response from some, including retired Space Force Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, who said:
“We’re starting once again to judge people by the color of their skin. [American leaders should] think very carefully about whether they want to inject tribalism into our long-trusted institutions in this country that typically have not been infected with tribal thinking, with all that that entails.”
