Ireland , Bantry House and Gardens

The Queen Anne Bantry House was built around 1700 in a magnificent location on the shores of Bantry Bay on the West Coast of Ireland, in County Cork. Since 1765 it has been owned by the Shellswell-White family.

A beautiful view from the terrace above the house opens the bay with the island of Vida and Mount Kakha in the background.

Today, inside there is an eclectic collection of art and furniture brought from Europe by the Second Earl of Bantry, and in the carriage and stables there is the center of the French Armada, which tells about the attempted attack of Theobald Wolf Tone in 1796.

Terraces with a total of 7 levels are built around the house. The parterre on the south side is surrounded by wisteria, which surrounds the fountain. From here, 100 steps rise - a staircase made of local stone surrounded by azaleas and rhododendrons.
