Patent Engineer at ZF
Qualifications and skills:
• Bachelor’s degree or above majored in mechanical, electronic, automotive, physics, aerospace, information science, robotics or similar.
• First Experience/knowledge in patents & IP (management, creation, search), preferable within the automotive sector.
• Proven team player with international mindset. Highly self-motivated and self-managed individual, not afraid to solve difficult topics. Able to act independently, service-minded, to support the creation of IP at product innovation staff globally .
• Strong analytical thinking and rapid understanding.
• Fluent English & German skills, both written and verbal are compulsory.
Responsibilities:
• Execution of intellectual property rights searches and analysis, including state of the art assessment, competition analyses, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, landscaping, etc.
• Identification and safeguarding of patentable ideas, together with anticipation of technology trends in the automotive, transportation & new technology fields.
• Support of internal strategic creation of Invention Disclosures (ID) on all relevant technology fields by identifying ideas and supporting inventors in quickly creating meaningful ID.
• Preparation, implementation and reporting out of patent committees, patent statistics and support in assessing IP issues in innovation development projects. Monitoring of third-party intellectual property rights activities (e.g. competitor patent monitoring.
• Support of internal and external patent attorneys or representatives in all intellectual property proceedings (application, registration, examination, opposition, defending, etc.).
