Vacancy:
Legal Counsel - IP at ResMed

Qualifications and skills:
• Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in intellectual property law.
• Experience in an in-house IP legal team or in private practice as part of an IP group.
• Litigation experience desirable.

Responsibilities:
• Involve in overall ResMed's IP activities - IP review, IP operation, patent litigation support.
• Manage the body of knowledge pertaining to ResMed/Competitor patents, design registrations and trademarks.
• Oversees the development of ResMed’s intellectual property portfolio.
• Counsels on IP legal risk associated with project proposals, freedom to operate opinions and ResMed’s relationships with external parties.
• Engages and liaises with external IP legal counsel (litigious & non-litigious)
• Participates in negotiation teams and liaises with external parties and their legal representatives.
• Reviews and settles all major contracts and other commercial arrangements (for services, acquisitions, other relationships & securities) for compliance with ResMed’ IP strategies.
• Informs business of new or proposed intellectual property-related legislation, policy and non-government interests which may affect its activities.
• Defines appropriate strategies and systems to maintain and build ResMed IP by working closely with the broader ResMed team (global research and development, product development and business development units) to meet business objectives.
• This is a global role, hence travel are required depending on the needs.
