The American supermarket chain Hannaford now has smart carts that record and analyze customer demand. Thus, the store staff will understand with high accuracy and in real time what products are in the greatest demand.
In addition, the carts act as "smart" scales, and they themselves calculate the total amount of purchased products and give recommendations on what else could be bought.
If programmed appropriately, the shopping carts will advertise ongoing promotions, broadcast promotional messages, and even share a recipe based on the products a customer has filled in the shopping cart.
