The Rare Battle Beacon is a variant of the normal Battle Beaco | Ingress Updates [ENG]

The Rare Battle Beacon is a variant of the normal Battle Beacon and was spotted in some cities yesterday. This is what we know:

- After a Rare Battle Beacon appears, a 10-minute countdown starts. Only after that the fight for the portal begins.
- Instead of 5 checkpoints, there are only 3 checkpoints, which are measured after 3 minutes each. Each checkpoint gives 3/4/5 points to the faction that controls the portal during the checkpoint.
- The new Battle Beacon variant does not reverse the allignement of the portals after a checkpoint. Links and Fields therefore remain standing and are not broken.
- The new Battle Beacons have only appeared in cities where a Mission Day has taken place in the past.
- The Battle Beacons appeared on portals just after a Checkpoint has passed.

It is unknown if and when the new Rare Battle Beacons will be available for purchase in the store or if they will randomly appear above portals in the future.
