While the Ingress Community was worried about the fate of the NL-1331 Portal, Thia reported that the Ingress team is aware of, and is working to resolve, the issue with the news items showing up every time the Scanner is restarted.

A workaround to prevent this from happening while a fix is pushed to the Scanners, is to visit the News feed and look at the first news items appearing there.
