Niantic has enabled a new setting for Adventure Sync: Nearby!

When activated, the Scanner will check your surroundings while the app is closed and will send you a notification if it finds something specific. As of now, we're only aware of a notification if a new Unique Portal is nearby, but it is very likely that there are other types of notifications as well. At the moment, Niantic has not made any official post about this new feature.
