Effigies go up in flames in Mexico City as part of 'burning the Judas' ceremony

Many people gathered on Saturday for the famous tradition of the burning of Judas in Mexico City.

During the celebrations that that takes place every Holy Saturday in some Mexican neighbourhoods, people gather to light fireworks that set ablaze colourful figures represnting "evil."

The burning of Judas ceremony is a tradition in many Christian communities during Easter, which sees worshippers burn an effigy of the Biblical figure of Judas for his betrayal of Jesus Christ.
