Jesus hasn’t returned for His church, and He still has a lot of ministry for you to do – in your family, at your workplace, and wherever else you traffic. And with prophecy unfolding before our eyes, it’s imperative for you and me to remain vigilant. It’s been said a thousand times before, but I’ll say it again – employ God’s methods for staying alert, they’ll always strengthen and re-energize you. Rise each day and fill your spiritual lungs with prayer. Read His Word until you are convicted, encouraged or instructed. And then find like-minded believers who will sharpen you spiritually.

During my long season of insomnia, I asked a friend of mine in the U.S. Special Forces, how he managed to keep alert and undistracted. His response took me by surprise. He said, “There were times when we were in a critical situation and to have fallen asleep would’ve meant death. One time in particular, we had been up for three days. I had Tabasco sauce – you know, that really hot stuff – in my backpack, so I put a drop in each eye. It makes you feel like your brain is on fire.” Now that would keep you awake!
Sound extreme? Maybe. Unless it meant your life and the lives of those who depend on you.

So, let me ask you, “What will you do to remain watchful in this critical moment? How far will you go?”
