day to day

Meaning
If something happens day to day, it's part of your usual daily routine.

For example

While you're away you'll have to pay for all your day-to-day expenses yourself, except for the hotel.

She can deal with the small problems she faces day to day, but if there's a major crisis she usually panics.

This idiom is written as "day-to-day" if it's used as an adjective in front of a noun.

اگر اسمی به F ختم شود، در جمع F تبدیل به ves می گردد:
thief دزد thieves دزدان
leaf برگ leaves برگ ها
calf گوساله calves گوساله ها

لغات زیر از قاعده فوق مستثنی بوده و در جمع فقط s می گیرند:
roof پشت بام roofs پشت بام ها
proof دلیل proofs دلایل
chief رئیس chiefs روسا
gulf خلیج gulfs خلیج ها
cuff سرآستین cuffs سرآستین ها
grief غم و غصه griefs غم و غصه ها
hoof سُم hoofs سُم ها
plaintiff مدعی plaintiffs مدعیان
reff صخره reefs صخره ها
serf غلام serf غلام ها


اگر اسمی به fe ختم شود، در جمع fe تبدیل به ves می گردد:
wife زن wives زنان
life زندگی lives زندگی ها
knife چاقو knives چاقو ها

سه لغت زیر از قاعده فوق مستثنی بوده و در جمع s می گیرند:
safe گاوصندوق safes گاوصندوق ها
strife نزاع strifes نزاع ها
fife فلوت fife فلوت ها

کلمه like در وسط جمله و بعد از افعال to be و یه سری افعال خاص مانند
look , sound , feel , seem
قرار میگیرد.

اما alike در انتهای جمله و به منظور مقایسه می آید.


به مثال های زیر دقت کنید:

My sister is like my mother.

Is Japanese food like Chinese?

She sings like an angel!

The children all look very alike.

Your new shirt and the old one are alike.
