2021-12-14 07:30:46 Question from a developer: What do you want from a bookmark/link manager app?

I’m working on a bookmarking app for macOS which is equipped with lots of features I collected from all over the Internet.

But I don't think I've added all the features. I somehow want to scare off people with features they don't need.

The app can also act as a read-it-later app as I think every app that can save likes is a read-it-later app. Due to the technical issues I don't want to tackle, it does not and will not support offline reading like Instapaper or Pocket. So highlighting text of all sorts is also off the table.

Other than that, what do you want from an app like this?

Currently this app has these features:

\- Quick Find to easy access your bookmarks.

\- Browser extension to save current web page (both Safari and Chrome).

\- CloudKit sync.

\- Import bookmarks exported from browsers.

\- Export bookmarks to HTML or JSON.

\- Management with tags.

\- Smart Lists (save searches).

\- Archive URL to PDF or Web Archive.

\- Set preferred browser for each URL.

\- Shortcuts support for macOS 12 and URL Scheme.

\- Share menu.

\- Copy as Markdown or HTML.

\- Trash.

\- Quick Link.

\- List view and card view.

\- Native Mac app experience.

2021-12-13 22:30:47 Only Switch, all-in-one settings on a status bar button

I don’t like the notch, so I developed an app to hide it. Besides, I found that the menu bar is smaller than before, especially for 14'', it can’t show status icons enough. I integrated other functions into it to figure it out. It looks fun. If you also face these problems, try it.

2021-09-05 03:30:43 For those on the macOS Monterey beta, can someone give a general idea on how robust Shortcuts are for folder automations, such as moving files from Downloads folder to subfolders (i.e. Image Downloads, Installer Downloads, etc)? Even better if anyone can compare to Hazel?

Back on Windows, I used DropIt to have all downloads go into a specific Downloads subfolder depending on the file type in question. I've been waiting for Monterey/Shortcuts to come out of beta since I saw this featured on their preview page but I'm curious on just how robust it is compared to something like Hazel which is really robust from the looks of it. Aside from this, I was also considering Hazel due to the ability to erase leftover files from deleted apps (which AppCleaner does free) and sync/copy files for backup purposes (Shortcuts?). But this app is $45, Monterey is close to release and I cannot for the life of me find anywhere online about Shortcuts being used in this manner in reality. I just want to make sure it's actually worth the money compared to Shortcuts + AppCleaner. I was reminded of this thanks to /u/KyloSmutsig and their post. Thanks in advance!
