2022-06-30 13:18:02 Virtue of The 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah & Shahādah

Among the special seasons of worship are the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah , which Allāh has preferred over all the other days of the year.

Ibn 'Abbās reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allāh than these ten days.” The people asked, ‘Not even Jihād for the sake of Allāh?’

He ﷺ said, “Not even Jihād for the sake of Allāh, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing.” Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī (no. 969).

Benefits from the narration:

Virtue of the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah:

- The great virtue of the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah.

- The first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are loved by Allāh.

Virtue of performing righteous deeds:

- It is proven that fasting, reciting Qur’ān, giving charity and general righteous deeds are more rewarding in these days then doing them in the daytime of any other month.

- Righteous deeds in these days are even better then Jihād except for one that strives with the wealth and self and is taken as Shahīd (Martyr) by Allāh.

- As for the narration that the Prophet ﷺ fasted the days of Dhul Hijjah, nothing authentic has been established from him. The scholars mention it is still recommended to fast due the great reward and virtue of these days.

Virtue of Jihād:

- Jihād was asked by the companions because they knew Jihād has a great status in Islām and the great virtue it carries as mentioned in the narration of Abū Dhār when he narrated, I asked the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ ‘Which action is the most virtuous?’ He replied, “Faith in Allāh and Jihād in His Cause.” Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī (no. 2518).

- Jihād was known to carry a great virtue. The companions knew Jihād as one of the greatest deeds in Islām so they asked “Not even jihad for the sake of Allāh?” which shows the understanding of the companions was Jihād was of the most virtues deeds.

Virtue of Shahādah in the way of Allāh:

- The virtue of Shahādah – being killed in the path of Allāh – is clear from the narration , “except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing.” – this indicates that striving in the way of Allāh with wealth and ones life and being accepted as a Shahīd by Allāh is more rewarding then righteous deeds done in these days.

- The Shahīd has many blessings, from them is all his sins are forgiven and is only accountable for debt. Abdullāh ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “The martyr is forgiven for every sin except debt.” Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim (no. 1886).

- This meaning of the virtue of Shahādah is usually not mentioned by speakers today but those that striving in the path of Allāh today with their wealth and life and are killed in the way of Allāh is more rewarding then all the righteous deeds done in the days of Dhul Hijjah.

- Shahādah was something many of the companions desired and was not something strange in their minds as it is in the minds of the Muslims today.

For example Umar ibn Khattāb would supplicate: O Allāh! Grant me martyrdom in Your cause, and let my death be in the city of Your Messenger." Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī (no. 1890).

Conclude:

- The Prophet ﷺ measured the virtues of Dhul Hijjah against Jihād because they knew it to be the greatest deed. Nothing surpasses to Dhul Hijjah in virtue except Shahādah in the way of Allāh.

2022-05-06 13:47:53 Friday Reminder: Send Ṣalāh Upon The Prophet ﷺ

Allāh’s messenger ﷺ said: “Be plentiful in sending Ṣalāh upon me on the day of Jumu’ah and on the night of Jumu’ah i.e. the night before Jumu’ah, so whoever sends a single salat upon me then Allāh will send salat upon him ten times over.” Sunan Al-Bayhaqi. Classed as Sahīh by Shaykh Al-Albānī in his Silsilah Sahīhah (no. 1407).

One can say any of the following:

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ

`Allāhumma salli `ala Muhammadin.

O Allāh, exalt the mention of Muhammad.

‘Allāhumma salli wa sallim 'alā Nabiyyinā Muhammadin.

O Allāh, we ask for your peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad.

`Allāhumma salli `alā Muhammadin wa `alā azwājihi wa dhurrīyyatihi.

O Allāh, exalt the mention of Muhammad and his wives and offspring.

O Allāh, send salah upon Muhammad, Your slave and Messenger , as You sent Salāh upon Ibrāhīm, and send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad as You sent blessings upon Ibrāhīm.

Allāhumma salli ‘alā Muhammad wa ‘alā āli Muhammad kamā salayta ‘alā āli Ibraaheem, wa bārik ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘alā āli Muhammad kamā bārakta ‘alā āli Ibrāhīm innaka hamīdun majīd.

O Allāh, send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad as You sent prayers upon the family of Ibrāhīm, and send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibrāhīm, You are indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory.

2022-05-04 13:45:21 What To Say To Avoid Giving Evil Eye

Now days we find many Muslims that have been effected by evil eye, especially when people are sharing their lives on social media which allows everyone to see what is happening and not every person who sees people’s lives pray for blessings for them. Following are some supplications to say.

Many people now days say - ما شاء الله - Mā shā’ Allāh – Whatever Allāh Wills, this is not what is meant to be said when a blessing is seen on another believer. Rather a supplication of blessing for that person is what is prescribed.

Some supplications to say when you see a blessing on someone else:

تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ

Tabārak Allāh - May Allāh bless you.

Allāhumma bārik fihī - O Allāh bless him.

Allāhumma bārik fihā - O Allāh bless her.

Allāhumma bārik `alayhi - O Allāh send your blessings upon him.

Allāhumma bārik `alayhā - O Allāh send your blessings upon her.

Tabaarak Allāhu ahsan al-Khāliqīn, Allāhumma bārik fīh - Blessed is Allāh the best of Creators, O Allāh bless him.

Tabaarak Allāhu ahsan al-Khāliqīn, Allāhumma bārik fīh - Blessed is Allāh the best of Creators, O Allāh bless him.

Action plan:
- Memorise and say when witnessing blessings on others.
- Always supplicate for good for the Ummah

May Allāh protect us all from evil eye. Amīn

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, “If one of you sees something from his brother, or in himself, or in his wealth which impresses him, then supplicate for him to be blessed in it. Verily, the evil eye of envy is real.” Musnad Aḥmad (no. 15700). Authenticated by Shaykh Al-Albānī in Silsilah As-Sahīhah (no. 2572).

2022-05-03 12:26:57 What To Continue After The Month of Ramadân?

Now that the blessed month of Ramadân has passed we should strive to continue some of the righteous deeds we were doing in it into our daily practise after Ramadân.

Below are a few deeds we should continue from today:

1 – Allocate a time every day for the recitation of Qur’ān:

A minimum of 20 mins a day and those who have time try recite a Juzz [roughly 20 sides] of Qur’ān a day.

2 – Read the morning & evening words of remembrance [Adhkār]:

This is a daily protection for the believer.

3 – Seeking forgiveness a minimum of 70 times a day:

Allāh's Messenger ﷺ said: “By Allāh, I seek the forgiveness of Allāh, and repent to Him more than seventy times in a day.” Sahīh Bukhārī (no. 6307).

You can say:
Astaghfirullāha wa atūbu ilayh.

I seek the forgiveness of Allāh and repent to Him.

Astaghfirullāha ‘l-'Aẓīm alladhi lā ilāha illā huwa ‘l-ḥayyul-Qayyūm wa atūbu ilayh.

I seek the forgiveness of Allāh the Mighty, Whom there is none worthy of worship except Him, the Living, the Eternal, and I repent to Him.

4 – Pray all the Prayers in congregation in the Masjid for those that are able.

5 – Not to miss any of the Sunnah prayers:

There are 12 main Sunnah Prayers [Rawātib] every day.

6 – Pray 2 units of Prayer after Ishā and before bed with the intention of Tahajjud (Night Prayer):

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "The most excellent prayer after that which is obligatory is the (voluntary) late night prayer." Sahīh Muslim (no. 1163)

May Allāh give us the ability to continue doing righteous deeds sincerely and accept them from us. Amīn

2022-05-01 20:06:04 What Is Recommended To Do On the Day of ‘Eīd Al-Fitr

1 - To take a bath on the morning of ‘Eid:

- Ibn Umar would bathe on the morning of Eīd. Recorded in Muwatta of Imām Mālik (2/248) and others. Authenticated by Imām Nawawī in Majmoū’ (5/6).

2 – Wear the best clothes for the day. As for women, they should not beautify themselves when they go out to the ‘Eīd prayer-place in front of everyone:

- It is also known that Ibn ‘Umar would dress in his best clothes for the ‘Eīd. Recorded in Sunan Al-Bayhaqī (3/281). Authenticated by Imām Ibn Rajab in Fath Al-Bārī (6/68).

3 – It is Sunnah to eat dates before we leave for ‘Eīd Al-Fitr Prayer:

- Anas bin Mālik narrates Allāh's Messenger ﷺ never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of `Eīd-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Anas also narrated: The Prophet ﷺ used to eat odd number of dates. Recorded in Sahīh Bukhārī (no. 953).

4 – It is Sunnah to say Takbīr (saying Allāhu Akbar):

‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar used to say it out loud on the day of al-Fitr until the Imām came out (to lead the prayers). The chain of transmission is authentic as mentioned by Shaykh Al-Albānī in Irwā’ Al-Ghalīl (3/122).

One can say:
Allāhu Akbar, Allāh Akbar, Allāhu Akbar Kabīra.

- Musannaf Abdur Razzāq (118) on the authority of Salmān Al-Farsī. The Takbir begins after the night of Eīd has begun (after the last Iftār) and ends when the ‘Eīd Prayer is completed.

5 – Offering congratulations. Such as saying to one another:
تَقبَّلَ اللهُ مِنَّا ومِنكُم
Taqabbala Allāh minnā wa minkum - May Allāh accept (good deeds) from us and from you.

- Abū Umāmah Al-Bāhilī would say the above to his companions. Recorded in Al-Hāwī fi Fatāwa of Imām Suyutī (1/94). Authenticated by Shaykh Albāni in Tamīm Al-Minnah (no. 355)

It is allowed to say “Eid Mubārak.”

6 - It is Sunnah to pray the ‘Eīd Prayer outdoors:

- Abū Sa’īd Al-Khudrī narrated: “The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ used to go out to the prayer-place on the day of ('Eīd) al-Fitr and al-Adhā. Recorded in Sahīh Bukhārī (no. 956).

7 – It is prescribed for the one who goes out to the Eid prayer to go by one route and return by another:

Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh said: On the day of Eid, the Prophet ﷺ would vary his route, i.e., he would go via one route and come back via a different route. Recorded in Sahīh Bukhārī (no. 986).

2022-04-24 18:20:36 Rulings of Zakāh Al-Fitr Made Easy - Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azīz ibn Marzūq aṭ-Ṭarīfī

Who should pay Zakāh?

It is obligatory on all males and females. It is best for each individual to pay for themselves and if not possible then the guardian can pay on behalf of everyone he is in charge of.

It is recommended and not obligatory to give Zakāh Al-Fitr for the foetus in the mothers womb.

What is meant to be given?

It is meant to be given in the form of a staple food that is custom to that land like rice or flour depending on what people eat in that country.

Can you give cash?

It is not reported from the Prophet ﷺ or the companions that they ever have cash money.

It is best to provide the food itself but in our time it is allowed to send the value of the food in cash for that to be used to buy the food and then distribute to the poor.

Where should Zakāh Al-Fitr be given?

It is more appropriate to give it to the poor in one’s own country. However if there is a more needy country then it can be sent abroad.

When should it be given?

The best time to give it is between the Fajr and Eīd Prayer.

It is allowed to pay the Zakāh Al-Fitr in advance by a day or two as been reported by the companions of the Prophet ﷺ.

It is incorrect to pay it after the Eīd Prayer, it would be regarded as general charity (Sadaqah) and not as Zakāh Al-Fitr.

Based on the fatāwa of Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azīz ibn Marzūq aṭ-Ṭarīfī
