Practical Tips for the Last 10 Nights
We are just hours away from the last 10 nights of Ramaḍān; each could potentially be a night in which your deeds are worth more than a lifetime of good deeds.
We have put together some action points for us all to implement as we seek Laylatul-Qadr in this last stretch of the month.
1) Prioritise your time - Laylatul-Qadr is greater than a thousand months. Be mindful of your time just as you are with your wealth – each minute is precious, so use them wisely.
2) Eat a light ifṭār - Eat a light and quick ifṭār and hide away your phone; tonight isn’t a night to feast and chill, it is a night of sacrifice in pursuit of Allāh’s Mercy and Pleasure!
3) Focus on the Qur’ān - We should strive to recite the Qur’ān during any moment we have free time, and make it our closest companion in these 10 nights.
4) Increase in Tahajjud when alone at home - Pray your Night Prayer alone and not just in congregation in the Masjid. Prayer performed alone protects you from showing off and is a sign of sincerity.
5) Make sincere Tawbah - Everyone of us has sins; prostrate to Allāh, raise your hands, let your tears flow and beg Allāh to forgive you and to replace what bad you have done with good. Seek refuge in Allāh and be sincere!
6) Remember the Ummah - Supplicate for the oppressed, those exiled from their homes, those who are imprisoned unjustly, and for the victory of Islām to come.
Let us race as fast as we can down this last stretch of the road before it comes to an end. We don’t know if we’ll ever see another Ramaḍān again.
May Allāh grant us Tawfīq!
Abū Ismā‘īl
