Vishwakarma is the craftsman's deity and the divine architect of the gods. Also, known as Tvastar in earlier texts.
Interestingly Vishwakarma is shown holding various instruments including what looks like a Theodolite an instrument used for leveling before construction.
The Vishwakarma Statue at Chakreshwar Temple Nalasopara Maharashtra clearly shows one of the heads seeing through an optical device called Theodolite, used for engineering and land survey.
