Gangaikonda cholapuram Shiva Temple.

Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva in Gangaikonda Cholapuram, Jayankondam, in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Completed in 1035 AD by Rajendra Chola I as a part of his new capital, this Chola dynasty era temple is similar in design, and has a similar name, as the older 11th century, Brihadeeswarar Temple about 70 kilometres (43 mi) to the southwest in Thanjavur. The Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple is smaller yet more refined than the Thanjavur Temple. Both are among the largest Shiva temples in South India and examples of Dravidian style temples. The temple is also referred to in texts as Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple or Gangaikondacholeeswaram Temple.

Hon’ble President of India and the First Lady of India Smt. Savita Kovind visited the magnificent Sun Temple in Konark today.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is one of the finest examples of temple architecture, complete with myriad expressions of the rich Kalinga culture.

Built in the 13th century by King Narasimha Deva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty, the temple is conceived as the chariot of the Sun god. A blend of art and science, the Konark Sun Temple is a testimony of the artistic vigour, finesse and prosperity of Odisha in ancient times.

Submerged Shiva Temple.

The demarcation point between Jharsuguda and Sambalpur. This view is only seen in early Spring or Autumn.
Located in the mouth of a tributary river of Mahanadi i.e. IB River.
Rampela Bridge, Western Odisha's longest bridge, with a length of over 2.5 kms.
If you ever visit Sambalpur or Jharsuguda please take time to visit this awesome place.

GARHI PADHAVALI, MORENA, MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA

An architectural wonder from medieval era, which looks like a fort from outside but it is a temple, which has hidden some spectacular carvings. The temple was originally a shiva temple, in 18 century the rulers of Dhaulpur converted it into a fort using the stone of the fallen temple. There is no trace of the main temple, but a small mandap at the entrance has survived, the intricate carvings covers the whole structure from the floor to the ceiling. The trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh are the main theme of the carvings. There are numerous story hidden in the carvings waiting to unraveled. There are status of lion and lioness at the entrance, guarding the temple

.
The #Narmada Ghat was built in the 18th century by the then ruler of #Holkar state, Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar. It is believed that Narmada is the holiest of all the sacred rivers in #India.

This 2300 Yrs Old Painting is from the “Tikula Caves” near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

One of the earliest depictions of Hindu Gods “Balarama/Sankarshana”, “Vasudeva/Sri Krishna” and “Shakti of Vishnu/Ekanamsha”.

Though much old look at the intricate details this painting holds. Let us look at them.

1. Balarama is holding Hala (Plough) & Gada (Mace).

2. Vasudeva is holding Gada (Mace) & Chakra (Wheel).

3. Shakti of Vishnu holding the “Chatra” (Parasol) over Vasudeva.

Note that the Gada of Vasudeva is slightly different from that of the Balarama and what surprises me is the “Chatra” held by Shakti/Ekanamsha which is a defining element in the Hindu Iconography later.

These caves also hold numerable “Vyuhams” (Military Plans) painted around of which “Chakra Vyuahams” are frequently found.

This beautiful “Bhimbetika of Gwalior” is on the banks of Parvathi River has no protection or care.

They lie in open and anybody can tamper the age old Heritage.

Kedarnath Temple

Kedarnath Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located on the Garhwal Himalayan range near the Mandakini river in the state of Uttarakhand, India. Due to extreme weather conditions, the temple is open to the general public only between the months of April (Akshaya Tritiya) and November (Kartik Purnima). During the winters, the Vigraha (deity) from Kedarnath temple is carried down to Ukhimath and where the deity is worshiped for the next 6 months.

Kedarnath is seen as a homogenous form of Lord Shiva, the 'Lord of Kedarkhand', the historical name of the region. The temple can be reached by a 22 kilometres uphill trek from Gaurikund. This temple was initially built by Pandavas, and is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, the holiest Hindu shrines of Lord Shiva. Pandavas pleased Lord Shiva by doing penance in Kedarnath. The temple is one of the 4 major sites of pilgrimage in Northern Himalayas. This temple is the highest among the 12 Jyotirlingas.
