Harihareshwar Temple

Harihareshwar is a town in Raigad district, in Maharashtra, India. It is surrounded by three hills named Harihareshwar, Harshinachal and Pushpadri. The river Savitri enters the Arabian Sea from the town of Harihareshwar.
.
This Temple complex has two adjacent temples. The smaller Kalbhairav temple is expected to be visited first, before entering the main Harihareshwar temple housing an ancient Shiva Linga. A pradakshina route goes around the temple, along the sea shore. It is not advisable to go on this route during high tide.
.
The Kalbhairav Jayanti Utsav (Festival on Birthday of Deity Kalbhairav) was initiated by Mr. Yashawant Balawant Nagle who was Sardar of Queen of Janjira Administering Harihareshwar village. He donated quite a large part of his property for funding the Temple management.

Story of this temple, which was repeatedly damaged and plundered during wars by Mughals will bring tears in your eyes

The Chennakeshava Temple of Belur, was built-in 12th-century on the banks of the Yagachi River

Belur was also an early Hoysala Empire capital.

The temple was meticulously built over 3 generations and took 103 years to finish.......then and now .....it is an epitome of architectural engineering

Respect your culture and heritage before it gets plundered by others.

Kashi is eternal.

Excavations in 2014 led to the discovery of artefacts dating back to 800 BCE. Further excavations in the city, unearthed artefacts dating back to 1800 BCE, supporting the view that the area was inhabited by this time.

Varanasi has been a cultural centre of northern India for several thousand years, and is closely associated with the Ganges. People believe that dying here and getting cremated along the banks of the "holy" Ganges river allows one to break the cycle of rebirth and attain salvation, making it a major center for #pilgrimage.

~ The ascetic of Parshurameswar ~

This image of Parshurameswar Temple, Bhubaneswar (Odisha) depicts an ascetic wearing a Yoga-Patta and doing Japa with a Rudraksha Mala.

Parshurameswar Temple is one of the earliest temples of Odisha built in the 7th Century C.E. during the Shailodbhava Period.

Amazing Vedic architecture photo series:Sas-Bahu ka mandir, or Sahastrabahu Temple, is located to the east of Gwalior Fort. Built in 1092 by King Mahipala of the Kachchhapaghata dynasty, this temple is one of the greatest architectural marvels situated by Gwalior Fort.

Badavilinga, Hampi

The base of the Shiva Linga is always submerged in water which portrays the arrival of Ganga to the earth and that the flow is controlled by The Lord himself.

Made out of artificial rock, Sri Govardhana Kshetra in Basavanagudi is among Bangalore’s unique temples that deserve a visit.

Right from the tunnel that leads into the temple to the deity of God Krishna holding the Govardhana hill, there are quite a few aspects that set this temple apart from the others.

Address - Sri Govardhana Kshetra, 1/3, Bull Temple Rd, opposite BMS Engg College, NR Colony, Basavanagudi.

The Dwarkadhish temple, also known as the Jagat Mandir and occasionally spelled

Dwarakadheesh, is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Krishna, who is worshiped here by the name Dwarkadhish, or 'King of Dwarka'. The temple is located at Dwarka, Gujarat, India, one of the destinations of Char Dham, a Hindu pilgrimage circuit. The main shrine of the five-storied building, supported by 72 pillars, is known as Jagat Mandir or Nija Mandir. Archaeological findings suggest it to be 2,000 - 2,200 years old.[1][2][3] The temple was enlarged in the 15th- 16th century.[4][5] The Dwarkadhish Temple is a Pushtimarg temple, hence it follows the guidelines and rituals created by Vallabhacharya and Vitheleshnath.

How many of us know about this Shiv mandir in Lonad-Maharashtra?

Tucked in between a village, this is a splendour created in Hemadpanthi style by the Shilaharas (8th-13thCE) which, is now in a dilapidated condition.

When will we work on saving our heritage?
