Malta has the highest concentration of population in the capital city among European countries: 90% of its inhabitants live in the capital city, Valletta. 76% of the population lives in the capital of Luxembourg (which is not surprising given the size of the country ...), followed by Iceland: 65% of Icelanders live in Reykjavik!

Large concentrations in the capital are also found in Latvia (52%), Estonia (46%) and Ireland (40%).

Germany and Switzerland have the lowest concentration of capital city dwellers: only 5% of each country's population lives in a capital city. Although, let's face it, in both countries, the main economic activity is still not concentrated in the capital. As in Italy and Turkey (with 7% following the leaders)

Despite the seeming immensity of Moscow and the huge number of people who want to live there, only 12% of the total population of Russia live there. Very small by European standards! Open / Comment

Countries in Europe have very different laws concerning prostitution, ranging from total prohibition (both the purchase and sale of sex) to full legalisation

Among the major conservatives are Romania, Croatia and Lithuania (interestingly, in neighbouring Latvia it is fully legal), and fully legalized in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Greece

The prohibition is introduced in an interesting form in France, Ireland and Sweden: it is legal to sell sex but not to buy. In most other EU countries prostitution is not illegal if it is not organized Open / Comment

In November 2021, 45% of surveyed Russians said they have a positive attitude toward the U.S. - versus 42% who view them negatively

And this is the first time since mid-2019 (and the second since 2013!) that the number of those who view the US positively in our country has exceeded their opponents. The 2014-2018 period was generally characterized by hardening negativity towards the US: up to 80% of the Russian population said they had a negative attitude towards the US, and the average numbers were in the neighborhood of 60%. As of mid-2020, the U.S. had the most migrants: more than 50 million. Germany, which follows the US, has a more modest result of 15.8 million; Saudi Arabia has 13.5 million people; Russia is in 4th place with +11.6 million; and the United Kingdom is in the top five with 9.4 million people.

The top emigrants are from India (17.9 million), Mexico (11.2), Russia (10.8), China (10.5) and Syria (8.5)

Note an important point: Russia is the only country in the top five in both categories. But there is a suspicion that almost 11 million of Russians not living in motherland have average level of qualification and education noticeably higher than those 11 million and a half million of foreigners living in Russia...
